Veranda Books are delighted to be hosting an evening of readings and discussion to celebrate the shortlist announcement for the 2026 Warwick Prize for Women in Translation.
Guest of honour will be Maureen Freely, co founder of the prize. Maureen currently teaches at the University of Warwick, and has many other strings to her bow. She’s well known as a translator from Turkish to English, notably translating the work of Orhan Pamuk, is the author of 8 novels and has held senior posts with English PEN and the Royal Society of Literature.
Joining Maureen will be fellow translators Charlotte Collins and Ruth Martin, both of whom have forged distinguished careers translating from German to English. Charlotte and Ruth will be reading extracts from some of the shortlisted books, and joining Maureen for an audience Q&A.
The event has been curated by BookBlast, a non profit literary media hub which connects readers worldwide through events, reviews and interviews
This promises to be a lively and celebratory evening and we hope you can join us. Welcome drinks from 6.30, readings/conversation at 7.
