This year Lornham, the multi-disciplinary property company based on New Quebec Street is celebrating its 10th year in business in Portman Marylebone. Operating across London as well as regional areas within the UK, Lornham’s core services are Property Acquisition and Property Management as well as being on the panel of the leading Private Banks. Aside from property management the business specialises in managing lifestyles, the Lornham team led by Dominic Wertheimer aids clients with purchasing cars, watches, phones and other key requirements that are required by HNW clients.
We caught up with Dominic on Lornham’s 10th anniversary to ask him about his time thus far in Portman Marylebone and running a successful business.
Congratulations on 10 years of business in Portman Marylebone! What does this milestone mean to you?
It truly feels like a ‘rite of passage’ to reach 10 years. When I reflect on the trajectory and direction the business has taken it is incredible to think how it all began.
I’ve always valued fostering relationships and from 2012 on I have been fortunate to be surrounded by great people: my team, family, and clients. Now I am proud to say we are an established recognised name with an office on The Portman Estate.
Over the years we have met such an interesting array of people and it has been the joy of building meaningful professional relationships that have kept us going, particularly through a time of global crisis. Particularly back in April 2020 when I received a call from one of our solicitors who had a client in need. In short, an Indian couple had come to stay in their flat for a week, but Covid delayed their return home by 5 months. During that time we helped them manage their home, and acquired another property whilst the principal was running his global business from our office. Roll forward to December 22 and I was the only Englishman celebrating New Year’s Eve with them in a remote part of India. Relationship building and delivery on that is the most important aspect of our job.
How would you describe your New Quebec Street neighbours?
Marylebone is a real community, and we all work well together. Many of the local estate agents come to us for block management and concierge services. We go to them when we have clients looking to buy property in W1. During lockdown, we all looked out for one another. We held our Team party at The Grazing Goat and continue to show support for the local businesses.
You held your 10-year celebrations at The Grazing Goat, are there any other establishments in the area that you would recommend for a shindig?
We love Chourangi for its authentic Indian flavours as we have lots of Indian clients. Also, you can’t beat Locanda Locatelli for a celebratory meal! We always start the day but picking up a coffee at Daisy Green and their Shaksouka is perfect at any time of day.
How has Portman Marylebone changed in the past 10 years
Yes, it’s more sophisticated but not snooty. Like all prime locations the need to adapt is very real but there has been a gradual change in Marylebone, it’s authentic and wonderful in equal measure. I love the array of retail & eateries with a choice of Hyde or Regents Park on the doorstep.
